AFFILIATION FAQ
1) What is affiliation?

Ans. "Affiliation" means the formal affiliation of a college with the GSIDC for the purpose of preparing students for admission to the corporation's examination. It includes affiliation under all categories and of all types.

2) Where should I apply for affiliation?

Ans. The college aspiring to get affiliation from GSIDC may apply on the GSIDC website, https://gsidc.org.in


3) Where can I get the complete details and requirements for affiliation with GSIDC?

Ans. Before applying for affiliation, the college are advised to refer to GSIDC Affiliation Bye-laws (which includes detailed requirements for college Affiliation) as well as the Affiliation Manual, including Circulars for detailed procedure for submission of applications, and further processes available at https://gsidc.org.in

4) Can a college apply itself or should it apply through a third-party consultant?

Ans. The procedure for affiliation has been simplified to the extent that a college fulfilling all mandatory requirements as per the affiliation bylaws can apply easily in a user-friendly manner through the website https://gsidc.org.in. Besides, the Corporation doesn't expect any college to apply through third party/consultant, etc.

5) Why is there a need to integrate NEP with affiliation?

Ans. The To attain the goal of data-driven decisions, achieve transparency, bring accountability in the entire process and reduce compliances through timebound disposal of the applications for affiliation, there is a need to integrate the recommendation of NEP with affiliation.

6) Why GSIDC for affiliation?

Ans. The Government Small Industries Development Corporation (GSIDC) is the premier National Corporation under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. The main mandate of GSIDC is to affiliate colleges for conducting diploma or certificate-level examinations.

    GSIDC is the pacesetter paramedical corporation in India that has a pan-India and International presence.
    More than 145 colleges are affiliated with the corporation in India and 2 countries as of date.
7) What are the major changes in the affiliation process?

Ans. Major changes in the affiliation process to make the system more accountable are as follows:

* Initial scrutiny of all six mandatory documents by the corporation.

* After clearance by the corporation, proceed with filing up the remaining part of the application.

* Display of Mandatory disclosure at college website

* Introduction of system-generated self-certification/system-generated DEO certificate

* Introduction of Virtual Inspection

. Change in period of Affiliation from 03 years to 05 years

* Digital signature of the college for authenticating the information/documents uploaded.

* Constitution of review committee for rejected cases after inspection.

8) What is the timeline for applying for fresh affiliation, upgrade, extension, etc.?

Ans. Refer to the circulars issued/uploaded on the Corporation website from time to time.

Note:

* In case of application for extension of affiliation, the college can apply beyond the period with the fees as mentioned in Appendix I of the affiliation bylaws.

9) What is public disclosure?

Ans. Public Disclosure as per Appendix 3 of Circular 09 dated 12.03.2023 where display of vital information about college in their website so as to facilitate the stakeholders to acquaint themselves about the college.

10) Is it mandatory for schools to maintain websites?

Ans. Yes, the college is required to develop and maintain its website, providing vital information about the college on the website.

11) Whether the college is eligible to apply again if the pre-registration of the application for affiliation becomes invalid?

Ans. The college will be eligible to apply afresh in the next session along with requisite fees.

12) What are the documents needed to be submitted at Part A?

Ans. The college applying for affiliation must have the following documents and data should exactly be the same.

    Recognition Certificate. (Not required for the Government college and colleges located in foreign countries)
    Registration certificate of Society or trust/certificate of incorporation of the company running the college
    Land Certificate
    Fire Safety Certificate
    Building Safety Certificate
13) How will a college know that it qualifies to fill out Part B of the application?

Ans. After completing the pre-registration form in Part A, the details/information submitted by the college will be scrutinized by the Corporation/system and on fulfilment of mandatory requirements of Affiliation Bye- laws. The status will be available in the progress panel. Thereafter, the remaining part of the application can be filled.

14) How will the college ensure that the documents submitted are valid or not?

Ans. The certificates/documents submitted by the college must be issued by the appropriate government authority and valid as of the date of the final submission of the application for affiliation. The documents uploaded shall be scrutinized by the corporation, and the status will be available in the progress panel.

15) What is the next step after filling in Part A and Part B?

Ans. College fulfilling the mandatory conditions will be inspected by a committee generally comprising two members.

16) Whether inspection of the college will be done physically or virtually?

An inspection of the college shall be done in the manner prescribed by the corporation from time to time. Please also refer to clauses no. 09.2 and 09.4 of the Affiliation Bylaws.

17) What would be the optimum enrolment of students?

Ans. The number of students in the class should not be very large. The optimum number in a section of a class is 20

18) What are the facilities available in college laboratories?

Ans. College laboratories, which include a composite science lab or/and separate physics, chemistry, biology lab, and computer science lab, should have a minimum size of 9 m x 6 m each (approximately 600 sq. ft).

19) What would be the criteria of a boundary wall?

Ans. The school must possess a pucca concrete boundary wall or wall with iron-grilled fencing with an appropriate height of 6 feet on all four sides of the college campus.

20) Who is the authority to issue safety certificates?

Ans. The safety certificates should be issued by competent government authorities of the state or district. In the case of the building safety certificate, the certificate 139 issued by the government-empaneled engineer with a valid copy of the license issued by the certifying authorities is also acceptable.

21) What is the academic parameter that the inspection committee will verify?

The Ans. Inspection Committee will verify the following academic parameters:

 The College has a clear vision that is communicated to all stakeholders through websites, almanac etc.
 The college has an annual development plan for all aspects related to a college.
 A principal or college leader understands new curricular practices and applies them in the college.
Teachers have annual/term-wise academic plans.
The college conducts student enrichment activities to develop 21st-century skills and real-life competencies.
 The college has provisions for regular professional development of teachers.
 The college promotes and adopts eco-friendly practices (water harvesting, solar lighting, recycling, etc.).

22) What will happen if inspection of the college does not take place on the stipulated date?

Ans. In case the inspection committee is ready and the college intentionally fails to get the inspection done on the stipulated date communicated by the corporation (except for the reasons beyond control) in the inspection letter, the college will be penalized with a monetary penalty of Rs 15200/- and a fresh schedule shall be communicated. The above process shall be followed till the inspection is conducted as per date decided by the Corporation. However, the application shall be rejected if the college fails-- to get the inspection done after three opportunities.
